Silverlight has very good support for streaming video. The main format is Windows Media, but is can also play other formats like mp3. The core functionality from Windows Media Player is supported, e.g. DRM, MultiBitrate streams and metedata in the stream. It also supports video overlay, and all the cool stuff you can do with Flash video.
Compared to Flash video I think Silverlight is much better - the video quality is much better, it's real streaming (not progressive download), and it has support for the important features above. And most important - it will be supported on all platforms (which is not true for Windows Media Player).
